Senior Designer

About the role

Design clear, accessible web experiences and translate brand direction into well-resolved interfaces. The Senior Designer will take briefs through exploration, responsive design and developer handoff, then review implementation against the agreed intent. This role requires strong visual judgment, practical knowledge of ecommerce journeys and a disciplined approach to reusable components, interaction states and the details that help people understand and use a page.

What you’ll own

• Clarify project goals, user needs, content requirements and platform constraints before proposing layouts, documenting the assumptions and trade-offs that influence the design direction.
• Design responsive home, product, collection and landing pages, using clear hierarchy, useful calls to action and appropriate information density across desktop and mobile views.
• Develop and maintain Figma components, variables and reusable patterns, documenting states and usage so that other designers and developers can extend the system consistently.
• Translate the relevant brand guidelines into digital interfaces and supporting assets, respecting each project's identity, approved wording, image rights and established visual standards.
• Prepare organised design files, interaction notes and exportable assets, resolve developer questions and review built pages for layout, content, accessibility and behaviour against the approved design.
• Use usability observations, available analytics and appropriate testing to investigate design problems, distinguishing evidence from preference when recommending a change or preparing a test variant.
• Present design decisions clearly, incorporate useful stakeholder feedback and give other designers specific review notes that improve both the immediate work and the consistency of future delivery.

What we’re looking for

• At least four years designing for the web, including at least two years on ecommerce or conversion-focused marketing sites, with examples of work that reached implementation.
• A portfolio demonstrating your ownership, design reasoning and responsive execution, with an honest account of the evidence available to evaluate the work.
• Advanced Figma skills covering auto-layout, components, variants, variables, prototyping and shared libraries, with files organised for collaboration and ongoing maintenance.
• Working knowledge of Shopify, WordPress and Webflow constraints, plus enough HTML and CSS understanding to discuss feasibility and implementation details accurately with developers.
• Practical accessibility knowledge, including readable typography, contrast, keyboard focus, interaction states and reflow, alongside clear communication for design reviews and written handoff.

Useful, but not essential

• Experience with usability testing, session recordings or A/B test design, including interpreting findings carefully before attributing a commercial outcome to a visual change.
• Experience with WooCommerce, Shopify Plus, motion or presentation design, supported by examples relevant to the work you would contribute.

What good work looks like

• Designs communicate the intended hierarchy and interactions clearly across representative screen sizes, including error, empty and focus states where relevant.
• Handoff materials support accurate implementation, and design review identifies meaningful defects before the work is considered ready.
• Reusable components and documented decisions keep later changes consistent with the project's brand, accessibility requirements and content needs.
